First of all, it is a common misconception that a good china cymbal only produces a lot of racket. Secondly, there are many different kinds of china cymbals, each with their own sonic character. The B18DACH, for instance, is a dark china from Meinl's Byzance series. This 18-inch china is made of durable B20 bronze and completely hand-hammered and finished.

Its sound is a bit different from your average china. At its core, it sounds dark and it inhabits a low frequency range. Of course, it still has plenty of attack and aggression, but its relatively short sustain and washy, round tone set it apart from regular china's, which often sound more trashy and coppery.
